Alan Leibowitz, former Head of EHS, Exelis Inc.

 

Alan Leibowitz

Alan Leibowitz is Director of Environment, Safety, Health and Security (ESH&S) for ITT Exelis Corp., based in McLean, Va. In this position, he leads the worldwide team addressing ESH&S issues for this $6 billion-dollar-international supplier of advanced technology products and services including defense communications and electronics.

 

Mr. Leibowitz is a leader in professional and industry group activities, including his recent roles on the Board of Directors of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and as a Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

 

He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB), Chair of the ANSI Z10 Committee that developed the first American National Safety and Health Management System Standard, Chair of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Environmental Issues Council and the Environmental Committee of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). He is a frequent speaker on Environmental and Safety Management and recently contributed a chapter on the subject to the textbooks “The Occupational Environment - It's Evaluation and Control” and “Patty's Industrial Hygiene."

 

He holds a Master's degree in Environmental Science from Drexel University and received extensive postgraduate training at the Columbia University School of Public Health.
